What to Wear to Each Function

  • Haldi: yellow is the tradition. Wear something you can wash, since the turmeric paste stains. Some communities call it pithi or gaye holud.
  • Mehendi: bright, comfortable pieces, often a sharara or a lighter lehenga you can sit and dance in. See our Indian shararas.
  • Sangeet: the party night. Sequins, fuller skirts and fusion looks all belong here.
  • Ceremony: traditional Indian wear, often a saree or a lehenga, with a dupatta that can cover your head if the venue asks.
  • Reception: the evening where many guests save their dressiest outfit.

Colours Guests Usually Avoid

Red belongs to the bride at most Indian weddings, so guests tend to leave it alone. Black and white are less settled. Some families treat black as inauspicious and link white with mourning. Others are relaxed, and at Christian Indian weddings the bride herself often wears white. Ask the hosts if you are unsure.

How Your Outfit Is Made

Each outfit starts as original branded fabric, which we stitch in your chosen standard size or to measurements you provide. The stitching is already in the price. Sleeves, neckline, length and lining can change for free where the fabric allows, without extending delivery. The fabric’s colour and embroidery are fixed. Brand tags and packaging may come off as we work. Colour can look slightly different on screen, so request a video before dispatch when the shade is important.

It helps. Orders of CAD $200 or more ship free, while a smaller order costs CAD $9.99, and one order means one parcel to track.

Can I wear Indo-Western?

Can I return a stitched outfit?

After dispatch, stitched guest outfits are final sale. The exceptions, once verified, are a wrong item, a piece missing from the parcel or a sizing error on our side.
