How a Reception Saree Differs from a Bridal Saree
A saree for the main ceremony is often weightier, in silk with a wide, worked pallu. Reception sarees tend to be airier. Organza and net are common, some have a narrower pallu, and some brides add a jacket or cape over the blouse for a modern finish. Pre-draped styles have also gained ground because they stay in place through hours of greeting and dancing.
Blouse, Drape and Embellishment
The blouse carries much of the look. Sleeve length, neckline and back can be adjusted where the design allows, and a longer blouse or cape adds coverage. Sequins, cutdana, pearls and crystal work suit evening light. An embroidered or scalloped border frames the drape. Pale organza reads softly in photos, while jewel-toned silk holds its colour under stage lighting.
